Job 1, 2, Luke 6

Man, there’s a lot to soak in in today’s readings. Job lost everything but his integrity, his 10 kids that he loved, and thousands of animals. But he didn’t lose his integrity. He still praised God. I don’t know how many times I’ve run into small messes and crashed out; I need to be more like Job. God is in control.

‘He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord !”

I liked how his friends sat with him, too, and didn’t say anything for days. Job 2:13
A good friend, student, or apprentice will listen and follow. I heard but didn’t follow. I catch myself listening but not following what people are saying. I messed up a large part of my life because I listened but didn’t follow Jesus. I built my house on sand.
I’m so thankful for Christ, his forgiveness, patience, his word, and his expert foundation repair.
Luke 6:46-49

Lord, help me to be a good listener.

I’m not a fan of traveling. I’m a homebody, and travel today is a lot easier than it was in Paul’s time. I hate being stuck in an airport for a few hours. Reading Acts 27, we learn that travel was much more dangerous and that the weather played a major role. Paul warns the…
