I like the contrast between the Roman Soldier’s humble faith, when he said, “Don’t trouble yourself; I’m not worthy for you to come in —just say the word, and my servant will be healed,” and the way he recognized absolute authority and treated Christ like a King.

‘When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!” ‘

In contrast, the religious Pharisee who invited him in but didn’t offer any hospitality, in his pride, he didn’t realize Jesus was the Messiah.

We see that in two instances, faith in Christ has the power to heal and to save.
