1 Corinthians 6, our bodies belong to Christ

Paul gives us a strong warning in 1 Corinthians 6, and the types of sin that will block us from going to Heaven. There’s never been a time in history when it’s been so easy to sin. The vast majority of the content we can consume on the internet, in music, and in media normalizes and promotes the opposite of what God intended. The dark spiritual forces of this world would love to enslave us in any sin.

‘You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. ‘
1 Corinthians 6:12

Run From The Darkness

We need to stay alert and mindful of the enemy’s plans for us. Especially, sexual sin. We need to remember the price Jesus paid for us, the brutal death he endured for us, pray regularly, and ask for the wisdom and strength to recognize and defeat the traps of the enemy.

‘¹⁸Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. ¹⁹Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,  ²⁰for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.’
1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Premarital sex can open spiritual doorways and connect us spiritually to others and the spiritual baggage they might carry. It’s important to repent and renounce those unholy spiritual ties that can bind us to others. The Exorcist Files has an excellent episode on this subject.

Even if we have made mistakes in the past, God offers forgiveness and restoration to those who repent. We never have to carry guilt or shame, because through Jesus, we can be made new again and live in the freedom God intended.
