Job 13, 14, and Luke 12
I heard a guy once say jokingly, I know when I’m going to die, my birth certificate has an expiration date on it. We really don’t know when, but death is inevitable, and the older I get, the more I realize that life is too short and even shorter for others.
Job tells us that life passes by fast, and God knows the number of our days, months, down to the last minute. I have seen a lot of my friends die recently, and life is passing like a shadow. I broke down talking to my friend’s son last month at his funeral.
I just didn’t realize how great the season I had with him and his family was until he was gone. I need to appreciate it now and be mindful of the limited time we have. And remember the good news of being a Christ follower. One bright morning, we’ll fly away, and we’ll see our fellow Christians in heaven, with no more tears, pain, or suffering.
‘We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear. ‘

‘You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer. ‘ Job 14:5 https://www.bible.com/bible/116/JOB.14.5
And then Jesus tells us that God knows the number of hairs on our heads. With me, my hair is a lot easier to count on each passing year. And then Jesus says, “Don’t be afraid; we are valuable.” A lot of the time, I don’t have a realistic, positive opinion of myself, and I need to remember that I am valuable and to look at myself and others from his perspective. The cross proves that we are dearly loved.
‘And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. ‘ Luke 12:7 https://www.bible.com/bible/116/LUK.12.7
‘ “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.’
