Luke 1

Man, there’s a lot to take in. We have prophecies, angels, and miracles. The first chapter of Luke is a wild ride. Can you imagine an angel appearing to you, as he did to Zechariah? Gabriel, the angel, told Zechariah, Your wife is going to have a son. You are to name him John. He was terrified at the sight.

I wonder what Gabriel would have done if Zechariah were a dork and said That’s great, and John, well, that’s a good name. But, you know, we were really thinking of naming him Zeke Jr. I can see this vast, light-filled angel, rolling his eyes and gripping his sword handle, ready to pounce. I’m glad Zechariah wasn’t a dork.  He probably had Proverbs 21:23 memorized.

‘Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble. ‘

But there’s an angry, bloodthirsty…

Abimelech, Gideon’s son, killed 70 of his 1/2 brothers to gain power. In the end, his horrible reign came to a violent end. When the godly are in authority,…

Today, let us remember that God can use our weaknesses and our past for His perfect plan. In today’s reading of Exodus 2 and 3, we learn about Moses. I liked thinking about how God saves Moses, and his mom gets paid to nurse her own baby boy. Even though Moses killed an Egyptian, he…
