Godless Leaders

Reading in Judges 9 this morning, I can’t help but think about how horrible people can be, how they will do anything for power and money. Abimelech, Gideon’s son, killed 70 of his 1/2 brothers to gain power. In the end, his horrible reign came to a violent end.

When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.
Proverbs 29:2

When God isn’t guiding our leaders, things will be horrible. Yet, even in dark times, we can remember that God remains in control. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of real change when people repent and put their trust in him. There is always hope when we trust in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

We have to pray for our leaders, our community, and our country. We need to ask God to bring us leaders who are godly and incorruptible so that the light can drive out the darkness.
