Job 42

Have you ever seen God?

Reading Job 42, I love how Job says, I’d only heard about you before, but now I’ve seen you with my own eyes. Job experienced God, which led him to repent. This makes me wonder, do people see God through me? Do they experience Christ’s love through what they see, my words, and actions?

In verse 7, God tells Job’s 3 friends he’s angry with them, because they didn’t speak accurately about him. This makes me think that sometimes we need to keep our opinions to ourselves. I believe Proverbs 10:19, 17:28, and 21:23, and James 1:19 are worthy of meditation and memorization.

Some time ago, my sister lost a child. Packing away a baby blanket that you will never be able to snuggle your child with. Something nobody wants to experience. One of my sister’s friend’s kids told her oldest daughter (they were young, elementary school age). The reason the baby died was because of her parents’ sin. I’m not sure where that little kid got such a distorted view of God. I can only assume it was her parents, my sister’s “friends”. I don’t think it was from reading or being taught Job.

Lord, God of all creation. Help us to speak accurately about you. Help us avoid distorting anyone’s view of the Almighty Living God. Help us to help people see your love, grace, and mercy clearly. Help us to be lights shining brightly for you.
