Acts 18

This morning, while I was reading Acts 18, verses 9 and 10 hit me pretty hard. Paul was in Corinth, and he’s already been beaten and stoned. Now, more people are opposing him; he must have felt uneasy.

9One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent!  10For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.” ‘
Acts of the Apostles 18:9-10

It reminded me of my own life. How, sometimes I’m timid or scared to speak out. We live in dark times, and many people need encouragement. They need to know of a God who lives and loves them. I’ve never liked public speaking. The first time I had to speak, I felt like my wobbly legs were going to start doing some Elvis dance without me. But now remembering 2 Timothy 1:7 has helped me overcome my fear.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7

I believe we need to be fearless, ready to share the Good News with everyone. By overcoming our fears, we can be lights, shining for Christ. I wonder who we could share our testimony with? I wonder who needs to hear about Jesus. I love this quick snapshot of the Good News.

“Jesus loves you and gave His life for you. When you turn from sin, believe, and trust Him, He forgives you and adopts you into God’s family forever.”

I love how God lets Adam name all the animals; it’s like he wants his input. I think that’s one of the cool things about God. I believe God is excited to see what we are going to do. I believe he wants us to share our ideas, thoughts, our highs and lows with him….

We are in the middle of a severe snowstorm. As I waded out to feed the horses, the snow was up to my knees, which made me reflect on Job 37: 9, 10. ‘9The stormy wind comes from its chamber, and the driving winds bring the cold. 10God’s breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses…
