Exodus 14 and 15

Sometimes our horses are out in the pasture, and we have to call them in. They will come racing towards us, and the roaring sound of their hooves on the hard ground is scary. That’s just 40 hooves. In Exodus 14, the people of Israel are pinned up, with the sea blocking their path and 600 chariots closing in. The Egyptians usually had 2 horses and 2 riders per chariot. I’m trying to imagine the sound of 4800 hooves pounding the ground towards me. The deafening sound of the hooves pounding, the heavy snorts of the horses, the noise of wooden wheels treading, stampeding the ground towards you, would be horrifying.

But God had a plan; he split the Red Sea, blocked and confused the enemy, and rescued the people of Israel. Exodus 14 and 15 remind me of the awesomeness of our God. Sometimes the dreadful sounds of hooves in our lives might be our thoughts, fears, or anxieties. We may feel trapped. We have to remember God has a plan, a perfect plan. And how our belief and faith in Jesus rescues us from destruction and leads us on a path to everlasting life. Our promised land is an eternity in Heaven with Christ.

‘The LORD is a warrior; Yahweh is his name! ‘
Exodus 15:3

Abba God, Abba Father. You are a Warrior! Yahweh, is your name! You are our strength; you have given us victory through the Holy Lamb, Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for rescuing us and destroying the works of the enemy. We ask you to confuse and smash the spiritual enemies in our lives, to unleash your blazing fury and consume them like straw. Clear our paths, removing anything that blocks our way to you. With your unfailing love, keep our path straight and guide us to everlasting life through our Redeemer, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jethro was a Midianite; he wasn’t Jewish. He was a high priest in their religion; the Midianites were most…

Cain didn’t do what was right, and God didn’t accept his gift. I wonder if he offered up a bunch of old stuff, stuff he typically feeds to his animals? Here are some moldy carrots, I usually give to the donkies. Regardless, it reminded me of the verse in Romans. ‘And so, dear brothers and…

I had been thinking about my old church and my time as a youth pastor. I drove by the old church last month, and it was now someones house. Well, I was looking in an old folder that I haven’t used for at least 12 years. It’s a nice leather organizer that I got from…
