Fight, Serve, Write
I listened to the coffee pot brew while Hebrews 6 percolated in my mind this morning. Verse 1 reminds us to repent from evil deeds and place our faith in God. This call to maturity echoes perfectly in today’s verse, 1 Timothy 6:12:
‘Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. ‘
1 Timothy 6:12
We are in a fight, with our own desires, and the rulers of the unseen dark world. The enemy keeps trying to move the goal post on what’s evil. We can’t let the world dictate what’s evil; we have to go to the Bible. We have to study God’s word and submit to God’s almighty authority. I loved how the author of Hebrews is confident that the people he’s writing to are on the right path. And how we share our love of God by caring for other believers.
‘Dear friends, even though we are talking this way, we really don’t believe it applies to you. We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation. For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. ur great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.
Hebrews 6:9-12
“Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent”
Reading this woke me up more than the coffee this morning. I spent years of my life spiritually dull and indifferent. I said I was a Christian, but my actions didn’t match my words. Now, the Holy Spirit is calling me to fight, to serve, and to sharpen my faith.
Driven by this call, He gave me a vision to help others slow down and study Scripture by writing verses in cursive. There is an incredible amount of research on the benefits of cursive writing and the transformative power of studying God’s Word.
I just launched CursiveVerses.com. It is my small attempt to care for and build up the body of Christ. I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think!
