Steadfast in the Static

Today’s verse is Romans 12:12.

‘Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. ‘
Romans 12:12

In my quest to grow in my faith and personal spiritual training, I’ve been writing down the verse of the day. The Bible app has a great feature that allows you to compare different versions. As I read and wrote out the different versions, the word “steadfast” caught my attention. In the NIV, the fruits of the Spirit—hope, patience, and faithfulness—shine plain as day.
(Galatians 5:22-23).

Then the verses that I gravitated to in today’s reading were Titus 2:12-13.

‘And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,  while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. ‘
Titus 2:12-13

Titus provides a blueprint for navigating this evil world. Yet, I easily get caught up in the distractions and static of everyday life, like social media, bills, and work. These verses remind me that I have to choose daily to be steadfast, to pray continually, and be patient when trouble comes. I can choose to be joyful in hope and to love everyone because one wonderful day, the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.
