Get Moving

“Then the Lord said to us, Get moving” appears twice in Deuteronomy 2; it made me pause and think. In Deuteronomy, God tells His people to move forward in obedience and trust. When I consider this alongside the New Testament, I see a connection: just as God called the Israelites into action, we too are called to respond. In 2 Corinthians 4:4, Paul tells us that Satan is the god of this world and has blinded the minds of unbelievers.

‘Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. ‘
2 Corinthians 4:4

This made me think of the disciples who couldn’t cast out a stubborn demon in Mark 9. And I wondered, who do I need to pray and fast for that might be blinded by the enemy? I need to get moving and take action for the people on my prayer list who might be spiritually blinded.

I’m writing this on a Friday, T.G.I.F. Thank God it’s Friday, we say. Most scholars believe Jesus was crucified on Friday. After today’s reading, I’m thinking T.G.I.F. should stand for Thank God it’s Forgiveness. Jesus is brought before Pilate and Herod. They don’t find anything they can execute him for. But there’s an angry, bloodthirsty…

Just as Pharaoh didn’t listen to God’s warnings in Exodus 10 and 11, we see history repeating itself today. Our “leadership” in the United States has been corrupt for decades. The highest bidder controls our so-called 2-party system. The rich and powerful divide and conquer the ordinary people and use our taxes to enrich themselves…

While reading Acts 26 this morning, Paul is defending his beliefs before King Agrippa. He talks about how zealous he was in his attempt to silence the early Christians. Then he shares his testimony, describing receiving a direct message from Christ on the road to Damascus. This makes me wonder if I dare to share…

We are reading Matthew 6 on our journey through the Bible this year. Jesus teaches us how to pray. ‘In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive…
